Top 10 List - Guest Post by Louise

My top 10 Reads for 2012

by QBR fan Louise

I keep a reading record and have done since 1998. Some might think that's a little sad, but it's just an old school version of Good Reads really, and it's fascinating seeing what I don't remember even exists, let alone enjoyed 15 years ago. Here are my top ten reads from last year.

BODY SURFING - Anita Shreve

Loved this women's lit offering. Chilled out vibe yet still a drama - perhaps being set on the coast helped!

ANY HUMAN HEART - William Boyd

I could not put this book down!!! Fantastic portrayal of a very interesting man's life.

ELLIS ISLAND - Kate Kerrigan

This is a another great example of contemporary women's literature. I can't wait to read the sequel later this year.

REBECCA - Daphne Du Maurier

One of my favourite books of all time - very unexpectedly!

HUNGER GAMES - Suzanne Collins

This was my first teen dystopian novel. Fantastic - I saw the (true to the book) film just 15 hours after devouring the first in the series.

The novels one of my favourite TV shows is based on. An inspired Christmas gift from a family member.

THE BOOK THIEF - Markus Zusak

A book you need strong arms to read it with, but worth every page turn. Incredible depiction of Nazi Germany through the eyes of Death.

This book had me gripped; a real 'partner ignoringly' good book. Not bad for a first novel!

LIFE OF PI - Yann Markel

I'd been meaning to read this for years and I wasn't disappointed. There's more to it than you might think!

BREATHLESS - Dean Koontz

I'm trying to get into more suspense and thriller books, and this was an excellent one to start with. Easy read, but it kept me turning pages.
